Global Talents Choose Singapore: The Lion City Ranks Globally as Eighth Preferred Work Destination
According to a global study on international mobility trends, Singapore has been chosen as the eighth most popular work destination. The research, conducted by Boston Consulting Group, The Network, and The Stepstone Group, was based on relevant data from 188 countries from more than 150,000 workforce respondents.
All of the respondents stated that they desired to work abroad. Twenty-three per cent are actively looking for jobs in other countries, and about 63 per cent are open to the idea. It remains a dream for most professionals to work beyond their country’s borders.
Among the work destinations people have set their eyes on are English-speaking countries with solid economies, such as the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Singapore is ranked eighth among the top ten countries attractive to talents and professionals around the globe.
Singapore in the List of The Most Preferred Cities As Well
In addition to voting for favoured countries, respondents were requested to choose their favourite cities as their work destinations. Singapore again makes the list, coming in seventh place, eclipsing other popular Asian cities such as Tokyo. London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amsterdam top the list of favoured cities to work in.
According to study results, people are willing to move to Singapore due to the country’s reputation for safety, stability, and security and the many excellent work prospects. Talented individuals from regional nations like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and the Philippines make up the bulk of respondents who aspire to work in Singapore. Almost one-third of Malaysian respondents show significant interest in Singapore as their work destination.
Talents willing to relocate to Singapore primarily look for work in the media and marketing sectors, as well as in the digital, data science, and artificial intelligence fields. Besides the creative and new-age sectors, Singapore is attracting talents in the highly skilled segment, including business management, engineering, research, and laboratory.
While global talents aspire to greener pastures in Singapore, Singaporean respondents implied a keenness to seek short-term work assignments overseas. Their main motive is to return home as soon as they have achieved their goals. Among the countries Singaporeans are interested in working in are China, Japan, and Australia.
