3E Accounting Singapore Winner of TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award 2016
Singapore based firm and business registrar, 3E Accounting has won the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award owing to its fair, responsible and progressive employment practices. The company grew from a small husband and wife collaboration back in 2011 to an established brand of very satisfied employees today. This is reflected in their revenue, which jumped from $45,000 to $3 million in just 4 years.
The company values its employees, a fact that is reflected in its low turnover rate and positive work practices. The Singapore Business Review has also ranked it among the top 30 accounting firms in Singapore. With its low employee turnover, the organization is able to provide consistent and high quality client service, resulting in significant revenue growth.
First conceived in 2010, the TAFEP award is used as a platform to encourage employers to adopt fair employment practices that could make Singapore more business friendly. The award is presented to businesses in Singapore that demonstrate progressive workplace practices, effective work procedures and HR policies, management of diverse workforce with productive outcomes along with a dedicated commitment from senior management to maintain said practices.
The award was presented to 3E Accounting as recognition for what SMEs can do when they are dedicated to their employees’ mental, physical and professional growth in the workplace with an infrastructure that can take care of their personal and professional needs. Some of these include a week’s paternity leave for fathers, regular training and development programs and 3 hours which employees can take off from work to attend to personal matters in place of annual leaves.
The firm has also taken measures to take care of the welfare of its employees by increasing its welfare budget from $5,000 to $16,000 within 4 years. All current policies and practices conform to statutory requirements irrespective of whether a worker is covered under the Employment Act or not. The company has shown an unflinching commitment to implement sustainable, fair and progressive workplace practices that not only motivate their workers, but which recognizes their contributions and awards them for their dedication.
The management at 3E Accounting is dedicated to the growth and development of their team members as well. One of the regularly implemented practices includes unbiased assessments of each candidate’s knowledge, experience and abilities when it comes to performance to ensure they hire the best people for specific roles. This has allowed them to reach out to diverse groups such as working mothers, mature workers and even expecting women who have the skills to become assets for 3E Accounting. On the day of the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award 2016 ceremony, Lawrence Chai, Managing Director of 3E Accounting, was invited to join the panel discussion onstage to share his views on promoting a fair and inclusive working environment. He also joined a short meet-up session offstage with Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister for Manpower. It was a great pleasure for Lawrence to be able to discuss on the issue of fair employment practices on that day and would like to thank TAFEP for the opportunity.
During the ceremony, it was highlighted that smaller companies can also offer attractive working environment, citing 3E Accounting as an example.
