Persons with Special Needs – A 3E Accounting and APSN Partnership
Supporting A Very Special Cause Close to the Hearts of Many
With the right support and inspiring encouragement, persons with special needs can be active members and contributors of Singapore’s dynamic community.
Every member of the community has something to contribute. That’s what 3E Accounting believes the reason we partnered with the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN). The agency is leading the charge in advocating for a more inclusive Singaporean society where no member is left out. 3E Accounting is a firm believer in this same cause and we were delighted at the opportunity to work together.
Who Are ASPN?
A social services agency, the APSN is responsible for education for persons with special needs. Such individuals are the ones with mild intellectual disability, where the IQ ranges anywhere from 50-70. The agency has been a strong force in Singapore, currently running four Special Education Schools (SPED). The schools cater to students between the ages of 7 to 21.
The agency also runs an APSN Student Care Centre for those aged between 7 and 18. Additionally, the APSN Centre for Adults helps those aged 16-years and older. Over 1,200 beneficiaries are helped by the agency this year, and 3E Accounting was proud to be part of this initiative in October 2014.
APSN’s schools and centres’ approach to a holistic curriculum is something 3E Accounting equally believes in. We, like APSN, believe that persons with special needs should receive the same opportunities and lifelong learning, including academic and vocational skills training. With the right support that enables them, these individuals can be active contributors of Singapore’s society. APSN is completely committed to its cause in inspiring and helping these individuals realise their full potential.
APSN’s growing database of more than 5,000 beneficiaries means the agency is continuously expanding its network. It reaches out to shoe who understand what its members need to get them the support they require. Because 3E Accounting is a staunch believer in making a difference to the community, we were honoured to be part of this initiative.
Corporate social responsibility initiatives are something the 3E family take seriously. When there is an opportunity to give back to the community, we’re eager to take it. October was an inspirational month for everyone involved, and we hope our support can help to make a difference in the lives of persons with special needs.
