Segregated Lanes for All Business Travelers Coming to Singapore
Business travellers coming to stay for the short-term in Singapore will now have to go through the segregated business travel lanes. These lanes are aimed at all travellers.
These segregated business travel lanes are part of the Connect@Singapore initiative. These lanes aim to limit the number of business travellers coming into the country. This includes high economic value travellers and official travellers. If the travellers plan to stay for up to 14 days, they must go through these lanes.
Global travel has been a sector that was severely impacted because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea behind this initiative is to slowly allow business travellers into Singapore again. They must undergo the 14-day quarantine and mandatory checks.
All travellers in these segregated business travel lanes in Singapore will stay at a dedicated facility. They must stay within their pre-declared travel group. These groups will be of up to give travellers within the dedicated facility. They cannot mingle with other travellers.
All travellers must use the Trace Together and Safe Entry option. During the stay at these facilities, travellers can hold business meetings with locals and other travel groups. Safe management measures must be followed during this time. Visitors will be separated by floor to ceiling dividers.
Singapore’s Reputation as an International Business Hub
Connect@Changi is working closely with MTI on a potential collaboration as the segregated facility. More facilities will be identified within the next several weeks. With Singapore’s reputation as an international business hub, precautionary measures like this must be enforced. Especially when more than half of the business travellers to Singapore come from regions with high COVID-19 cases.
Applications for the segregated business travel lanes business commence from mid-January 2021 in Singapore.
